What to Expect From a Wedding in Turkey
Turkey continues to grow in popularity among international couples thanks to a powerful mix of natural beauty, affordability, and streamlined legal processes. Here’s why it’s such a great choice:
Unique Wedding Experiences
Turkey’s position at the crossroads of Europe and Asia has shaped a vibrant blend of cultures, architecture, and traditions. This rich backdrop brings an extra layer of meaning to your celebration. Whether you want to incorporate Turkish customs, like a henna night or traditional music, or simply enjoy the historic setting, the country offers endless opportunities to personalise your day.
Diverse Locations & Venues
From pristine beaches along the Turkish Riviera to the fairy-tale landscapes of Cappadocia, Turkey offers a wide range of wedding venues. Coastal resorts, ancient ruins, boutique hotels, and scenic countryside settings make it easy to find the perfect location for your special day.
Experienced Wedding Planners in Turkey
Local wedding planners know the legal requirements and cultural nuances inside and out, ensuring your wedding planning runs smoothly without surprises. They work with trusted local suppliers, helping you avoid common pitfalls and stay within budget.
Affordable Luxury
One of Turkey’s biggest advantages is its value for money. You can plan a high-end wedding here, complete with elegant venues, full-service planning, and gourmet catering, at a fraction of what you’d pay in other European countries. It’s also possible to host larger weddings without significantly increasing your budget.
Budget-Friendly Wedding Catering in Turkey
Turkish cuisine is known for being both flavorful and affordable, making it perfect for budget-conscious weddings. Opt for traditional dishes like mezes, grilled meats, and fresh salads, which offer variety without high costs. Many local caterers provide quality menus that showcase authentic flavors while keeping your catering expenses manageable, helping you deliver a memorable dining experience without breaking the bank.
Convenient Travel & Accessibility
Turkey is easily accessible from most parts of the world, with direct flights to major cities such as Antalya, Izmir, and Istanbul. Whether your guests are travelling from Europe, the Middle East, or beyond, they’ll find it easy to reach you. Many popular resort towns are also well equipped for weddings, with a range of accommodation options for every budget.
Legal Recognition
Civil marriages in Turkey are legally recognised internationally, and the marriage certificates are issued in multiple languages. With the help of a local planner, the paperwork process is straightforward, and many couples also choose symbolic ceremonies for added ease.
Top Tip: Choose the Right Ceremony Time for Comfort & Photos
“When planning your wedding in Turkey, be mindful of the heat, especially during peak summer months. Early afternoon ceremonies can be extremely hot, which may leave guests uncomfortable and affect your photos due to harsh sunlight and high temperatures. If you want the best light and a more enjoyable atmosphere, consider scheduling your ceremony after 6pm, when the sun is lower and the weather is cooler, perfect for golden hour photography. That said, if you’re set on an earlier ceremony, try to book your wedding on a weekday. Many local registrars in Turkey are only authorised to conduct civil ceremonies at the registry office during standard office hours (typically Monday to Friday, 9am–5pm), so planning around their availability is key if you’re not hosting your ceremony at an external venue.”
Weather & Best Time of Year to Marry in Turkey
Turkey enjoys a Mediterranean climate with long, sunny days and mild winters, making it an ideal destination for weddings year-round. The best time to get married depends on the location you choose and the kind of atmosphere you want.
Spring (April–June)
A favourite season for weddings thanks to comfortable temperatures, blooming flowers, and fewer crowds. Perfect for outdoor ceremonies in both coastal and inland regions.
Peak Summer (July - August)
Peak season for beach weddings. Coastal towns like Antalya and Bodrum thrive during these months, although inland areas can get very hot, opt for late afternoon or evening ceremonies.
Autumn (September–October)
A beautiful time to marry in Turkey. The weather remains warm, but it’s less intense than summer, and many tourist spots are quieter, making venues more available.
Winter (November - March)
While cooler, winter weddings are still popular in cities like Istanbul or Cappadocia. With festive indoor settings and lower travel costs, it’s ideal for couples planning a more intimate event.
Top Wedding Venue Locations in Turkey
Turkey’s diverse regions offer unique settings for weddings, caterings to every style and budget:
Antalya
A top choice for destination weddings in Turkey, known for its golden beaches, turquoise waters, and five star resort venues. Perfect for large, luxurious celebrations by the sea.
Bodrum
A stylish coastal town featuring charming white and pastel-colored buildings, vibrant marinas, and stunning sunset views, making it ideal for modern, boho, or chic weddings by the Aegean Sea.
Cappadocia
Famous for its surreal landscape of fairy chimneys and cave dwellings, Cappadocia provides a truly unique wedding setting. Exchange vows in a hot air balloon or at a historic cave hotel for an unforgettable experience.
Fethiye
A hidden gem offering laid back luxury. Ideal for couples looking for natural beauty, quieter beaches, and authentic Turkish hospitality in a more intimate setting.
Marmaris
Combines natural beauty with lively nightlife and cultural richness. Great for couples who want a festive atmosphere with a mix of sea, history, and vibrant local life.
Izmir
A cosmopolitan coastal city that offers a range of urban and historical venues. Great for couples who want a mix of modern amenities and cultural depth without the crowds of Istanbul.
Real experience: Manal & Mohammed
“We’re originally from India but now live in Canada, and when it came time to plan our wedding, we wanted more than just a beautiful venue—we wanted an experience that honoured our Muslim faith, celebrated our Indian roots, and brought our loved ones together from all over the world. With guests travelling from Canada, the UK, India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh, Turkey felt like the perfect central location. We chose the Limak Atlantis Deluxe Hotel in Belek, and it truly exceeded our expectations. The setting was stunning, and the entire experience felt both luxurious and deeply personal. Working with Anta Wedding made the entire process so smooth. From planning across time zones to making sure every cultural and personal detail was in place, they made us feel supported every step of the way. Our wedding in Turkey was filled with joy, tradition, and unforgettable memories. We couldn’t have asked for more.”

Real experience: Ali & Paul
“We both love Turkey and knew that this would be our wedding destination. We wanted warmth and sunshine, a relaxed atmosphere, good food and drink and value for money. A beach wedding in Turkey ticked all of our boxes as well as being one of our favourite holiday destinations and places to be! We chose the Yacht Classic Hotel due to the ideal location overlooking the marina and it is not too far from the airport. We also loved the hotel’s style and the service/menu/cost that was offered to us by the hotel. It had a great feel and look, and is a beautiful place for a wedding with no need for many decorations etc. I don’t think there were any extra challenges that we wouldn’t have at home except the legal paperwork. The form we had to complete was not easy but only due to the formatting! We also had to apply for a full birth certificate which included our parent’s names. We also had to have our affidavit notarised which was an extra cost and a bit of a pain but nothing major.”

Cost of Luxury & Cultural Weddings in Turkey
While Turkey offers outstanding value compared to many European destinations, luxury and culturally specific weddings often require higher budgets due to larger guest lists, premium venues, and multi-day celebrations.
This section focuses on the typical costs and guest numbers for high-end weddings and culturally traditional celebrations in Turkey.
Note: All costs are listed in euros (€).
Luxury Weddings in Turkey
Turkey has become an increasingly popular destination for high-end, luxury weddings, particularly in locations such as Bodrum, Istanbul, Antalya, and along the Aegean coast.
- Typical cost: €60,000 – €150,000+
- Guest numbers: 80 – 200+ guests
Luxury weddings usually take place at five-star resorts, private villas, historic palaces, or exclusive seaside venues. Costs typically include venue hire, premium catering, bespoke décor, professional wedding planning, entertainment, and high-end photography and videography.
For larger guest lists or multi-day celebrations (welcome events, post-wedding brunches), budgets can exceed €200,000, especially during peak summer months.
Indian Weddings in Turkey
Indian weddings are among the most popular destination weddings in Turkey and are known for their scale, vibrant décor, and multi-day celebrations.
- Typical cost: €80,000 – €250,000+
- Guest numbers: 150 – 400+ guests
An Indian wedding in Turkey usually spans several days and includes multiple events such as the mehndi, sangeet, wedding ceremony, and reception. Costs reflect extensive décor, specialist catering, live entertainment, large guest accommodation requirements, and complex logistics.
Luxury Indian weddings held at resort buy-outs or large coastal hotels can exceed €300,000, particularly when accommodation, transfers, and entertainment are included.
Persian & Middle Eastern-Style Weddings in Turkey
Persian weddings are also growing in popularity in Turkey, particularly among couples seeking elegant, large-scale celebrations with a strong cultural focus.
- Typical cost: €70,000 – €200,000+
- Guest numbers: 120 – 300+ guests
Persian weddings often feature lavish floral design, luxury table settings, live music, and formal banquet-style receptions. Many celebrations include multiple events across several days, increasing overall costs.
High-end Persian weddings hosted in luxury hotels, waterfront venues, or historic settings can reach €200,000 or more, especially when guest accommodation and bespoke décor are included.
Important Cost Considerations
- Season: Summer weddings are significantly more expensive than spring or autumn dates.
- Location: Bodrum, Istanbul, and luxury coastal resorts command higher prices.
- Guest accommodation: For Indian and Persian weddings especially, hotel room blocks can represent a large portion of the total budget.
- Multi-day events: Additional ceremonies and social events quickly increase overall costs.

Our Tips for a Seamless Wedding Experience
Here are some easy tips to help you get started and avoid common headaches when planning your wedding in Turkey.
1. Consider the Weather
Turkey’s summers can be hot, especially in coastal and inland regions. Plan your ceremony for late afternoon or early evening to avoid the heat and enjoy golden-hour photos.
2. Hire a Local Wedding Planner
Engaging a local planner can help navigate legal requirements, language barriers, and cultural nuances, ensuring a seamless experience.
3. Photographers & Videographers
Turkey is home to some exceptionally talented wedding photographers and videographers. To secure your preferred team, it’s best to book 9–12 months in advance, especially if you’re marrying in high season.
4. Visit the Location Before Booking
A site visit isn’t mandatory, but if you can make a trip beforehand, it’s the best way to visualise your day, meet your planner or suppliers in person, and iron out the finer details.
5. Understand Local Customs
Familiarise yourself with Turkish wedding traditions to incorporate them into your ceremony if desired.
6. Making it Legal
While Turkey allows legal weddings for foreign couples, many opt to complete the legal formalities at home and celebrate with a symbolic ceremony in Turkey, which offers more flexibility with timing, language and location.
7. Plan Pre & Post-Wedding Events
Turn your wedding into a weekend (or week!) experience. Plan a welcome dinner, beach day, or post-wedding brunch to give guests time to relax and celebrate with you beyond the big day.
8. Budget Wisely
Establish a clear budget and discuss it with your wedding planner to ensure all aspects are covered without unexpected expenses.
